Kurisumasu Omedeto! This means Merry Christmas in Japanese. I am posting Christmas greetings in different languages on my different blogs. I have 13 and hopefully I can finish it up before Christmas Eve.

I try to correlate as much as possible too for the languange and the nature of my blog. For example on my Drama Queen blog, I posted the Korean greetings and on this blog the Japanese greetings because most of the new technology comes from Japan. I was torn between Japanese and German but I opted on the first. Maybe on my other blog I can do the later. I can use car rental Cape Town airport to hop from one place to another.

Japanese celebrates Christmas by eating Christmas Cake on the eve. And based on my manga and anime experience they use this time more to be with friends and lovers than as a family occasion or to celebrate Christ’s birth. Maybe it’s because only a little percentage of their population are Christians. Still it’s nice to know they do celebrate Christmas.

Another "Ville" on FB, after the success of FarmVille, FrontierVille and CityVille (the first two I played but now retired) comes CastleVille. Where you can create your own happy ending. The 'happy ending' almost got me, but though I got several invites I think I have to skip this one. I am busy enough with The Sims Social and Adventure World. 

But anyways, since I am curious (and maybe you too), I took a peek on what's inside.

Playing with Siri on iPhone 4S

One of the most anticipated feature of the new iPhone that has never before graced any of the previous models is The Siri.

Siri is your virtual assistant, you can ask her to call, read and send messages, check your schedule, browse the web, etc.

Well, yes she does that but as any other AI (artificial intelligence) apps, she can only do limited tasks. And as the user you should know the basic things she can do. You also need to be very clear with your commands or tasks.

I'm still getting the hang of it but with practice I'm sure Siri and I will be great friends.

Meet The Simch, The Sims Social version of The Grinch, and he plans to ruin Christmas for my Sim! Hell no, I won't let him do that even if I have to do his errands so that my Sim enjoy her first Christmas.

 

Here's the first task I have to complete otherwise The Simch will stop the snow, done!

I'm now on the second task, I need to hurry otherwise he would end the holidays completely.

Kinda stupid eh? Well maybe, but I'm just getting into the simulation game and will do the same if ever there is really The Grinch who would want to steal the Christmas spirit.

The Sims Social Meetup

Happening in 1423 1704 communities on November 17, 2011.

I do play The Sims Social and I enjoy interacting with friends, but the meet up is kinda new to me. And besides the Dubai community only has 6 persons confirmed to attend the said activity.  I'll ask my friends if we will join but more or less I have to pass this one.  

Facebook System Maintenance

I can't open my FB account! It says under system maintenance and have to wait for a few hours. 

I checked my other accounts (guilty) and my friends but none is under maintenance. Though they say that they do not perform the system maintenance at the same time, I am worried since this account serves as my online FB account. I communicate with advertisers, fellow bloggers and housed all my FB Fan Pages here.

Hope it goes back in an hour or so.

 

iPhone 4S Mania

While iPhone 4S is now available in US and other few countries, in Dubai the release date is still vague. When I say available, means from the Apple Store or through wireless providers. There are a few sites that sells the iPhone 4S already, but gosh the price is too high and the danger that it is locked to a US provider is another problem.

I called the Dubai Apple Store toll number 800 444 0396, was greated by a friendly customer service but still it doesn’t change the fact that I still have to wait by the end of November or till mid of December.

Sometimes I am really tempted to grab the offers in the black market but told myself NOT to. How long can I hold on? Once it goes down to 3500 AED or $1000. Now the lowest priced is 4000 AED, just a little bit and I’ll bring you home my iPhone 4S!

An old game, but I still enjoyed playing it. I used to play it on desktop PC where we need to buy an installer CD, then in PSP and now in FB!

The idea of the game to eliminate as many same colored spheres in a specific time frame. Simple and Easy. 

Meet Momo My iPad

I had Momo September of last year and still love her to bits. Although iPad2 is out already in the market I don’t have any plans of getting a new one, let’s say for another year.

With thousands of iPad applications out in the market, I may say I can live with only 20. I had 64GB and barely used a quarter of the capacity. I don’t download much songs or videos on it since I have a separate iPod for music and laptop for movies, all I do with Momo is to browse, play and read ebooks.

Only downside is it is not compatible with Java or Flash applications that’s why I cannot play FB games here. Although some games already made iPad apps that can be connected to FB profile, but still it’s not the same.

iPhone4S it is!

I've been hearing about it in the grapevine but never really took any interest with the possiblitity of an iPhone4S release because I was bent on waiting for iPhone5. And since the Apple event announced the release of iPhone4S instead, what should I do? Wait again indefinitely?

NO! I decided to get the new iPhone4S, for a minute I want to boycott Apple and buy another smartphone instead but decided against it. I badly need a new one.

Now, I have to wait maybe another month for iPhone4S to be available here in UAE. It will be released on October 14 in the US.

So what's new with iPhone4S?

* 8 megapixel camera
* A5 dual core processor (same with iPad2)
* revamped antenna (iOS will intelligently switch between two sets to avoid drop calls)
* with Siri virtual assistant (a first in Apple handset)

The Sims Social 102: Relationships

I guess this is the difference with other Sims games, because at FB you have to literally be social. You have to ask every single thing and in order to do that you have to ask your friends to be neighbors.

Once accepted as a neighbor, you have to visit their houses and do 5 acts to complete the daily visit and be given extra energy and social points. As you continuously visits your neighbor, you built rapport and level up to friends, close friends, dating or even enemy? I haven't tried the enemy part or if there even is, but if you insult and keep on insulting your neighbor it will result as awkward friends. I'll keep on insulting one of my neighbor so I could tell you what's the next level.

A dating sims started as usual friends and level up if you keep on flirting and insinuating things. But before that a permission or approval is asked first. Then it will be official that the two sims are dating, they can kiss, smooch and do the woohoo! Which is equivalent to sex, not that visual though. Don't get me wrong, I am not disappointed but kind of more alarmed since kids can play The Sims Social too.

Good thing is only official dating sims can do the woohoo. But not only limited to opposite sex but also to same sex. My friends tried it and yes they can do the woohoo too.

Should we expect babies at The Sims Social soon?

iPhone 5 on Oct 4

Will October 4, the day where one of my wishes come true?

I've been waiting for iPhone 5 for 5 months now, and I badly need a new smartphone. I hope this Apple "Let's talk about iPhone" event is really about iPhone 5 and not about the iPhone 4S. I want the 6 megapixel camera, larger touchscreen and faster iOS5.

Will wait for the official launch!

GITEX Dubai 2011

GITEX stands for Gulf Information and Technology Exhibition, new technologies are showcased in a week long trade fair like exhibition. Not much interested on the infos and techies but on the new gadgets!

This is actually my most anticipated sale event. Not only the companies and shops release the newest versions but also add freebies. And the old models were put on sale.

Aside from a Smartphone (still hoping iPhone5 will be released soon), I am also looking for a new camera. Something with a 16 megapixel, wifi connectivity and sleek type thing.

Adventure World by Zynga

Indy is calling adventurer dudes and gals to join in his expeditions. Indy who? It’s Indiana Jones pet name.

So the idea of the game is to go on treasure hunts or campaigns to gather ancient artifacts. I kind of like it than my other FB games because here you have a definite goal. Not just leveling up. But since it is just starting, I have difficulty with the neighbor requirement thing. Some of the campaigns require 3 or more brat packs. I so need neighbors at Adventure World. Will you be mine?

I’ll update once I get those neighbors and complete some real ass treasure hunts.

On the Look-Out for new Smartphone

I’ve been planning and saving for a new Smartphone.

I’ve been eyeing a particular brand and model but my patience is running out. So my next posts will be all about Smartphones. To help me be objective (not just name recall) on choosing my next one.

PS Vita, what's new?

That's a good question out there. With the different game consoles out there, what more could we expect from Sony Playstation Vita.

It will feature a five-inch (12.7 cm) multi-touch OLED (organic
light emitting diode) screen with a pad on the back for "touch, grab,
trace, push and pull" finger motions. The handset also has front and
rear facing cameras. It also has Wifi or 3G versions.

To be released by December, should I start saving for it? Not for me, but for my nephew whom I guessing will be asking for PS Vita as his Christmas gift.

The Sims Social 101

Look my sims is a blogger too!

The tasks is to create a blog post, after which you will be awarded with simoleons, XP and other items for future use.

There are different items that can be used for skill building like computer for writing, paint easel for art, microwave for cooking and guitar for music. Later on there will be more items available as you increase levels.

You also have to take care of your sims, the green buttons in the middle indicates your sims needs. It also needs to sleep, pee, bath, eat, be entertained and socialized. The first five can be done by clicking button itself or the item to be used like ref for food. To socialize you need your FB friends to be neighbors, a daily visit will give you free energy and social points.

I am totally into sims (again) and might do a follow up post, upon request? anyone?
